Lyndsay Phaneuf
About The Artist

As an artist, I am driven by a deep fascination with individuality and the ways in which we express our inner selves. I think it is important that people of all ages continuously tap into their inner child and allow themselves to break free from current every day hurdles. This exploration has manifested in creating &quote, a collection of whimsical characters that blend the innocence of childhood with the playful essence of animals. Each Hissyfit embodies a unique personality trait with a dash of mischievous, brave, shy, courageous, or caring represented by the bonnets they wear, which act as a reference to a peek into their inner selves. Traits that anyone can relate to in their own way.
The Hissyfits are created to resonate with children and young adults, but they transcend age barriers, connecting with anyone who enjoys a sense of wonder and imagination. Through their dreamlike appearance and relatable qualities, I invite people into their world, one that reflects both the challenges and the excitement of human emotions. My greatest joy as an artist is witnessing the inner spark and delight in someone's eyes as they encounter these characters for the first time.
Ultimately, my work encourages viewers to embrace their quirks and celebrate their uniqueness, much like The Hissyfits do in their magical world.

Cover Letter

Dear Hiring Committee,

My name is Lyndsay Autumn Phaneuf, and I am applying for an Art Education position because I believe deeply in the transformative power of creativity. As both an artist and educator, I have spent my career helping young people develop confidence, curiosity, and expressive freedom through the visual arts. My background spans fashion design, soft sculpture, gallery work, and years of experience mentoring and nannying children—including neurodivergent and twice-exceptional students. These experiences have shaped a teaching philosophy grounded in empathy, structure, and joyful exploration.

I create art that tells stories, and I teach with that same mindset. My classroom blends hands-on making, artist studies across diverse cultures, and structured routines that support all learning styles. I incorporate multiple means of representation and scaffolded demonstrations to ensure students feel supported at every stage of their creative process. Most importantly, I strive to build a classroom community where students feel safe taking risks, expressing themselves, and discovering their individual artistic voices.

I am excited about the opportunity to bring my passion for arts education, my dedication to student-centered learning, and my professional creative experience to your school community. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to the possibility of contributing to a program that values imagination, inclusivity, and growth.

Warmly,
Lyndsay Autumn Phaneuf
