Lyndsay Phaneuf
About The Artist
Lyndsay Phaneuf is an artist, designer, and emerging art educator whose work explores identity, imagination, and storytelling through character-driven worlds. She is the creator of The Hissyfits and The Misfits, two evolving bodies of work that blend the innocence of childhood with the complexity of human emotion. Working across drawing, soft sculpture, and wearable design, her practice moves fluidly between concept and construction, bringing ideas to life in both tactile and visual forms. With a background in fashion design from Pratt Institute and professional experience in the industry, she approaches her work with both creative intuition and technical precision. Lyndsay's work is rooted in playfulness but grounded in intention. Whether creating characters, garments, or learning environments, she builds spaces where individuality is celebrated and imagination is taken seriously. As an educator, she is passionate about mentoring young artists and helping students discover their own creative voice, encouraging them to embrace both experimentation and self-expression.

Cover Letter
Dear Hiring Committee,
My name is Lyndsay Autumn Phaneuf, and I am applying for an Art Education position because I believe deeply in the transformative power of creativity. As both an artist and educator, I have spent my career helping young people develop confidence, curiosity, and expressive freedom through the visual arts. My background spans fashion design, soft sculpture, gallery work, and years of experience mentoring and nannying children—including neurodivergent and twice-exceptional students. These experiences have shaped a teaching philosophy grounded in empathy, structure, and joyful exploration.
I create art that tells stories, and I teach with that same mindset. My classroom blends hands-on making, artist studies across diverse cultures, and structured routines that support all learning styles. I incorporate multiple means of representation and scaffolded demonstrations to ensure students feel supported at every stage of their creative process. Most importantly, I strive to build a classroom community where students feel safe taking risks, expressing themselves, and discovering their individual artistic voices.
I am excited about the opportunity to bring my passion for arts education, my dedication to student-centered learning, and my professional creative experience to your school community. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to the possibility of contributing to a program that values imagination, inclusivity, and growth.
Warmly,
Lyndsay Autumn Phaneuf
